I’ve always liked the “repeat the same day” thing. I was a big fan of Groundhog Day when I was 12 or 13. The gimmick is used well here with each “new day” being different enough from the one before that it doesn’t get stale. The movie is cheesy, but it knows it and is somewhat meta about it, which adds to the watch-ability. The twist is pretty predictable, but the ride there is fun enough. It’s not something I’ll ever watch again, but it’s doing more right than one would expect. I wouldn’t say it’s a terrible movie, but that might also be because I enjoy the gimmick. It’s a little less than par for the course, but it’s far from painfully bad. I would recommend to anyone who likes “repeat the same day” movies and is interested to see how it blends with modern commercial horror.
